Ruth Dodson

Ruth Dodson was the Administrator of the Garrison Church from the Summer of 2021 to the Summer of 2025.

The funeral of Ruth Dodson took place at Eltham Crematorium on Tuesday 2nd June. The Chapel was packed and there were many trustees and friends from the Garrison Church in attendance.

Eulogies were given by her son and her brother, and mentioned her commitment the Garrison Church. It was interesting to hear about the varied careers that she had pursued with considerable success before working as Administrator at the Church. Her tenure as Chairman of the Charlton Society and as a long time supporter of the local Labour Party also featured in the tributes.

The choice of music reflected Ruth’s particular enthusiasms. It was atom of sadness, particularly for a life cut short so early (Ruth was only 59 when she died) she packed a great deal into her life and all present at the Service remembered her with affection.
