Reach Theatre Company & Woolwich Singers performance Friday 17th July
The evening on Friday July 17 th was a perfect summer evening at the Church. Late sunshine, a slight breeze and a welcome reduction in some of the epic temperatures of recent weeks
The entertainment was divided into 2 parts. First the Reach Theatre Company performed under Hazel Bracken. We have hosted this group several times in the past but never cease to be amazed by the enthusiasm and professionalism of the performers. Whatever the individual’s particular learning difference, they are each given their moment in the spotlight as well as joining together in great dance and movement performances including the stirring opening number titled “We are Reach” and the final Abba tribute song. They clearly loved performing at the Church and a good sized audience gave them the reception they deserved.
After an interval which boosted our bar takings, the second part of the evening involved a performance by the Woolwich Singers, led by Wendy Young. The local group sang a number of songs with enthusiasm and professionalism with individual sections of the choir frequently taking different parts. A particular favourite was “I’m a Believer,” but the selection of songs appealed to a wide audience. Again the performance, as with Reach, was a great success.
We had decided in advance to split the ticket income 3 ways and the Church Reach and the Woolwich Singers will each receive about £95 for organising such a happy event which we hope will be repeated in years to come.
