It was a pleasure and privilege to host 'Music for a Summer Evening' performed by The Duchess of Edinburgh's String Orchestra
It was a beautiful summer evening and the Orchestra, conducted by SSgt Thomas Lamerton-Reece played a wonderful selection of music, with LCpl Yasmin Chu conducting some of the songs. The evening was very well attended, with many people bringing a picnic to enjoy the performance in the evening sunshine on a beautiful day, and enjoying a tipple or two from the bar. We sincerely hope that The Duchess of Edinburgh's String Orchestra will return for another performance in the future.
Music for a Summer Evening was a privilege for the Duchess of Edinburgh’s String Orchestra to perform, in the grounds of the historic St George’s Garrison Church. The longstanding relationship between Army music and the Garrison Church has flourished since the church’s construction, with the Band of the Royal Artillery regularly performing there before the evolution of today’s orchestra. As the heirs to that proud musical tradition, we were delighted to entertain visitors within this unique setting and to continue a valued association that has connected Army musicians and the Garrison Church for generations. - Ssgt Thomas Lamerton-Reece, Bandmaster
