Education Sunday

The Garrison hosted a service for the Education Training Services Branch of the Adjutant General’s Corps

On the morning of Sunday 16th June we were delighted to host the Education Training Services Branch of the Adjutant General’s Corps for their Education Sunday Service for the South East. This Branch maintains the tradition of continuing education and training for those serving in the Army, (formerly the Royal Army Educational Corps )with the result that most of those leaving have a qualification which will stand them in good stead in a civilian job market as well as inculcating discipline and self -confidence.

The Service was conducted by Padre Wainwright and there were talks about the history of Education Sunday and the ETS on Operations. It was the first time the ETS had held their annual Service at the Garrison Church and they enjoyed the occasion, as we did their offer to join them for brunch in the Officers' Mess in the Barracks after the Service.

We hope that they will return and it was gratifying that without any particular connection with Woolwich they had decided to hold their Service at the Garrison Church.

Today it is run by a local group, the Woolwich Garrison Church Trust who are committed to making it available for all to visit and enjoy. Directly opposite the Barracks in Woolwich, South East London, come and enjoy its beauty and peaceful garden.
