Christmas Carol Service 2025

The afternoon of Sunday 14 th December provided the ideal weather for an outdoor Carol Service. Bright and cold, with the setting sun lighting up the St George and Dragon Mosaic at the east end of the Church.

There was a good turnout with the Bishop of Woolwich and the Rev Adam Scott officiating. The RAF Cadets Band performed to their normal immaculate standard, with a musical medley involving Jingle Bells and Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines. The Belles contributed 2 musical interludes, including their own settings of Silent Night and The First Noel. David Rome, one of our Trustees, ended the Service with a beautiful rendering of I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas. The traditional Christmas readings were given by a representative of the Kings Troop, Lt Col Sefton the CO of Woolwich Station, Linda Bird the Mayor, Shri Gurung on behalf of the Gurkha community, and Michele Barton McIntosh, one of our most reliable volunteers. After the Service mulled wine and mince pies warmed up a cold congregation!
