RAF cadets annual service

Sunday 9th February

On Sunday 15th February the Garrison hosted for the first time the Royal Air Cadets Annual Service. The event was hosted by 56 Squadron, based in Woolwich, Squadron Leader Mark Bird and was officiated by 56 Chaplain Revd Henry Akingbemisilu.

A Cadet choir sang beautifully arranged versions of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah and a version of Stand by Me. Hymns included What a Friend we have in Jesus and He’s Got the Whole World in his Hands.

The service included a parade of Squadron Banners from a variety of Squadrons and the Air Training Corps Promise.

The 56 Squadron Band once again put in an accomplished performance to open the service.

In attendance we had Mayor Cllr Jit Ranabhat and Deputy Mayor Cllr Linda Bird, who always show great support for events at the Garrison.

Despite the blistering cold, the event was very well attended, welcome cups of hot tea and biscuits were served after the service.

56 Squadron are very good friends of the Garrison and we look forward to welcoming them and other Squadrons again next year.
