The Altar is back!
The Trust is delighted that the altar has returned to the Church after extensive works of restoration and conservation carried out by the Tankerdale Studio. This work was supervised by Historic England and formed part of the Phase 2 works at the Church for which Heritage of London Trust Operations were responsible.
The altar had deteriorated to a very sad state and has been beautifully restored. The top surface has patterned inlays of wood which you should see and admire when next visiting the Church.
In the Spring next year the Trust plans to have a Service of Dedication for the restored altar. Further details will appear on our web-site when the date and details have been finalised.
