Midsummer Night’s Dream Thursday 22nd July at 19.30

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM
SHAKESPEARE’S HILARIOUS AND FANTASTICAL COMEDY UP-CYCLED AND RE-WIRED FOR THE ENVIRONMENTAL GENERATION.

Our performance took place on 22nd July at 19.30 a glorious evening perfect for a picnic and drinks from the bar.

In this version by Heartbreak Productions of Leamington Spa, our unsuspecting mortals, camped at an environmental protest, are unaware of the fairies lurking in the woods, ready as ever to unleash magic and mayhem upon any human who dares to venture into the mystical wood. We saw Oberon, Titania, and the ever-playful Puck as we weaved our way through this tale of tangled lovers, warring fairies, and hapless human beings.

Using Shakespeare’s timeless imagery, we had emphasised to us the importance of the environment and using our earth’s resources wisely. The costumes and sets were made from recycled materials, and it was intended for the audience to get into the spirit of Heartbreak Productions' take on Shakespeare’s eco-centric, outdoor-theatre favourite.

St George's Garrison Church in Woolwich, with its modern canopy roof and stunning mosaics, is both an evocative ruin and a contemporary space. Designed by Thomas H Wyatt in an Italian-Romanesque style, the Church was built between 1862-63 to serve the Royal Artillery in Woolwich. Today it is run by a local group, the Woolwich Garrison Church Trust who are committed to making it available for all to visit and enjoy. Directly opposite the Barracks in Woolwich, South East London, come and enjoy its beauty and peaceful garden.
